Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Cover Supervisor to join a specialist all-through SEN School in Oldham, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous school-based experience who is looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people while gaining valuable experience within a supportive specialist setting.
The Role
As an SEN Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged in their learning.
You will support students across the school, from primary through to secondary age, with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties, helping to create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Supervise whole classes and deliver pre-set lessons across a range of subjects and age groups
✅ Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties
✅ Maintain classroom behaviour in line with school policies
✅ Promote a calm, safe, and productive learning environment
✅ Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when required
✅ Encourage pupil engagement and participation throughout lessons
✅ Take registers and follow safeguarding procedures at all times
✅ Work closely with teaching staff and provide feedback following lessons
✅ Support individual pupils and small groups where necessary
What We're Looking For
✔ Previous experience working in a school or classroom setting
✔ Experience supporting children and young people, ideally within an SEN environment
✔ Background as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role
✔ Confidence leading classes and managing behaviour independently
✔ Understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties
✔ Strong communication skills, resilience, and adaptability
✔ Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a professional, reliable approach to work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
