⏰ Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working alongside a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Irlam to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism (ASC) on a full-time basis.
This highly rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide tailored support to a pupil, helping them access learning, develop social and communication skills, build confidence, and achieve their individual targets within a supportive classroom environment.

The Role
As a 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a child with Autism throughout the school day, providing tailored support to meet their individual learning and developmental needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism in and out of the classroom
- Supporting the pupil's engagement, communication, and participation in lessons
- Implementing personalised learning strategies and support plans
- Helping the pupil develop social skills, confidence, and independence
- Supporting emotional regulation and managing transitions throughout the school day
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support strategies
- Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating achievements
- Building a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil and their family
- Contributing to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
✅ About You
We're looking for a patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience working with children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs
- Previous experience in a school, childcare, or support-based setting
- A calm, nurturing, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain positive and resilient in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN training (desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
