Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford that is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them to access learning, develop social and communication skills, and thrive both academically and emotionally within the school environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship that promotes confidence and engagement in learning
  • Support the pupil in accessing classroom activities and adapting tasks where necessary
  • Implement strategies and interventions tailored to the pupil's individual needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure consistent support
  • Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Monitor progress and contribute to the review of support plans and targets
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in an educational or care setting
  • Demonstrates patience, understanding, and a calm approach to managing challenges
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
  • Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Holds relevant SEN qualifications, Autism training, or experience using autism-specific strategies (desirable)
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to helping children reach their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
