We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in South Manchester that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young learner by providing tailored support that helps them thrive both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement within the classroom. You will play a key role in helping children develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships with their peers and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with children.
• Supporting pupils to access learning and remain engaged in lessons.
• Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans.
• Promoting emotional wellbeing and social development.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and external agencies where required.
• Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
• Has a calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
• Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a supportive and restorative manner.
• Has previous experience in schools, youth work, care settings, or similar environments.
• Holds a relevant qualification or has transferable experience supporting young people.
