Teaching Personnel is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Moston, seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to a pupil with autism, helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop key social and emotional skills within a nurturing school environment.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil, providing personalised support throughout the school day. Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, you will play a vital role in helping the pupil engage with learning, manage routines, and achieve their individual targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and communication development
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), where applicable
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours
- Assist with transitions, sensory needs, and emotional regulation throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the wider support team
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will:
✔ Have previous experience supporting children with autism or additional needs
✔ Demonstrate a patient, calm, and nurturing approach
✔ Have a strong understanding of autism-friendly practices and strategies
✔ Be confident building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
✔ Possess excellent communication and behaviour management skills
✔ Be adaptable and able to respond effectively to individual pupil needs
✔ Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
✔ Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
