Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a warm, inclusive primary school in Urmston that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from October.

The Role

As a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals. Working closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO, you will provide tailored support that enables children to build confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities and targeted interventions.
• Supporting the implementation of individual education plans and learning strategies.
• Encouraging pupil engagement, communication, and social development.
• Helping pupils develop independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals where required.
• Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in an educational setting.
• Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Be patient, nurturing, and adaptable in their approach to supporting children.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be confident working as part of a team while using their own initiative.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and development.
• Hold a Level 2 Safeguarding qualification or be willing to complete relevant training.
