Teaching Personnel requie a Teacher of the Deaf for an immediate start
The post holder will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive Specialist Teacher of the Deaf education service, working with children and teenagers who are referred for education. It is a responsible advanced level role, working both independently, and as part of a team, across the East Riding. The post requires a high level of knowledge, understanding and experience of working with a range of deaf children and those supporting them.
Main duties
- To assess and monitor students listening and communication, working closely with colleagues and local professionals, during the assessment phase. Ability to analyse and interpret the results as part of the decision making process.
- To monitor findings from observations and tests of auditory and speech perception, speech production, functional listening and language development. This will be achieved through a range of methods as appropriate.
- To work both within the multi-disciplinary team and independently, without direct supervision, maintaining accountability for own professional actions, within professional guidelines and Programme protocols.
- To be prepared to work for child's home and/or their educational setting.
- To take responsibility for, and manage the requirements of, their caseload under the supervision of the Lead Teacher of the Deaf.
Applicant must hold the following:
- Qualified Teacher of the Deaf status
- Experience of delivering to deaf children across a range of settings
- Experience of working with Cochlear implants
- Experience of working with counselling young people and parents
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
