Teacher (Key stage 3) - Oldham

Job description

The position is full time for an SEMH teacher and commences in September 2019 and runs until the end of the academic year (July 2020). Initially the position is a temporary position but could be permanent dependent on performance.

This particular setting is a Multi Academy trust which is made up of 3 sites all of which are located in the Oldham/ Failsworth area. Sites cater for individuals between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons that are designed to support and encourage the holistic development of pupils with SEMH. The ideal teacher will be able to demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEMH needs.

The ideal teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and extensive SEMH experience
  • Team-Teach training (can be provided)
  • A considerable amount of experience working with pupils with SEMH
  • Experience working within a special needs setting (preferably school)
  • An in-depth understanding of SEMH and the ability to adapt lessons to assure that learning is accessible to all pupils
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with pupils, school support staff, other teachers and parents
  • High levels of emotional and physical resilience
