About the Role
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a strong and experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bournemouth. This role is starting April 2026 and will be full time until the end of the academic year, with the potential to continue beyond.

The successful candidate will be supporting a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to remain engaged in learning, regulate their emotions, and build confidence within the classroom environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is calm, resilient, and passionate about making a real difference to a child’s educational experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs

  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans

  • Encourage engagement with learning and classroom activities

  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with SEMH or behavioural needs

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Experience working within a school or SEN setting

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
