Are you currently teaching in a mainstream school and supporting children with additional or special needs?
Do you wish that you could spend a more time with these students to help them achieve the best possible outcomes during their time in education?
Are you looking for a new direction in your Teaching career?
- Do you thrive of spending more time working with children who need it most?
- Do you enjoy making a real difference to children who struggle with their learning?
- Are you interested in exploring a new, exciting way of Teaching?
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for mainstream teachers who may be interested in trying teaching within a special needs setting. As a Teacher, do you plan lessons to your students learning levels? Do you provide emotional support as well as academic? Have you taught a class in which you have has a student with learning difficulties? Have you managed students with challenging behaviour? The answer to all these questions will be yes! And an SEN setting is no different!
In a specialist setting you will have small class sizes allowing you to focus your attention on each individual student and support from LSA's who tend to work 1:1 with each student in the class allowing you to make a real difference.
We provide an opportunity for Teachers to dip their toe in the water and see if teaching in an SEN setting is really for you. We already have strong relationships with SEN Provisions in your area and can support your transition from mainstream to SEN with flexible working, no need to commit to one school for the academic year and a range of specific CPD opportunities including behaviour management training (team teach).
In an SEN school you will not only be supported by the senior leadership team but also specialist within the school such as therapy, nursing and multi-sensory teams.
About the School;
The school provides access to learning for boys and girls aged 3 to 19, with moderate learning difficulties. Children with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), or global learning difficulties, experience great difficulty following the curriculum, despite receiving additional help and intervention. They have general developmental delay resulting in attainments significantly below expected levels in most areas of the curriculum, ie below level 2 of the National Curriculum at the start of senior school. There may be other, associated special needs such as dyspraxia.
Children with moderate learning difficulties may appear immature and find it difficult to mix with their regular peer group. Many are vulnerable and may experience bullying as a result. Often they are needy with an over-reliance on adult help and support.
Pupils with MLD do not find learning and communicating easy and may display challenging behaviour if their needs are not fully recognised and understood.
If you are excited about the prospect of using your skills to make a real difference to the children who need it most but are unsure of how to take the next step, we are here to help. If you have any questions or would like any information on Teaching in an SEN setting please feel free to call me for a confidential chat, we are available out of school hours.
If you would like more information please contact Jade on 0118 3271595
