SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant - Specialist Schools

Location: New Forest area (Dibden, Totton, Hythe & surrounding areas)
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly)
Contract: Full time and part time | Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a range of specialist SEN and SEMH schools across the New Forest and is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex additional needs.

This is a could be a long-term opportunity within supportive, inclusive educational settings, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate, or can be day to day supply work if more suited to your lifestyle

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils in the classroom

  • Support children with SEN and SEMH needs, including ASC, SLD, PMLD, and behavioural needs

  • Assist with communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and sensory approaches

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff

  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH

  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Willingness to undertake training in personal care, mobility, and physical support

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

  • A genuine interest in working within specialist education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
