Job description

We are looking for dedicated, compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistants to join a specialist education setting in the Lymington area.

The school supports children and young people with complex learning profiles, many of whom present with a range of additional and co-existing needs. Pupils are supported within a structured, nurturing environment that focuses on emotional regulation, communication, engagement and positive relationships.

You will be working with students who have:

  • Autism and complex learning profiles
  • Co-existing difficulties associated with autism, including ADHD
  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or Statements of SEN
  • Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia
  • Language and social communication needs
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Heightened anxiety and selective mutism

The role:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom, in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour in a calm and consistent way
  • Assisting with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient
  • Has a genuine interest in supporting pupils with complex SEN needs
  • Can remain calm in challenging situations
  • Works well as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team
  • Has experience in education, SEN, care or youth work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
