Here at Teaching Personnel, we have a regular flow of Special Needs Teacher vacancies throughout North Leeds.The Special Educational Needs teacher will be hired to work with children who require extra support.
The pupils that you will work with have a range of disabilities which could be physical or sensory such as visual or hearing difficulties.
They may have learning difficulties such as dyslexia or have a hard time with conditions to include mental health, autism, speech, language or any number of these conditions combined.
These children often require additional support to reach their full potential in school. The learning structure for these children will vary between them in order to help them achieve goals, for example, some students may need to communicate in sign language or Braille.
What is required of the SEN teacher?
- Classroom and lesson preparation.
- Assessing and marking work.
- Use of specialist communication techniques such as sign language, lip reading or braille.
- Use equipment to assist learning such as computers and audio-visuals.
- Working with other teachers and parents.
- Attending school meetings.
- Reporting the student's progression.
- Attending trips and other activities.
- Develop ways to help the students complete national curriculum subjects.
- Assisting with the medical and personal care of the students.
What qualifications are required?
If you want to teach special needs in a state school then the following qualifications are required:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- GCSEs (grades A-C) in English language, maths, and science
- Must pass required health and criminal restrictions
