Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) – Temporary Opportunity | Oxfordshire
Pay Scale: M5–M6
Contract: Temporary – from November 2025 to April/August 2026
Working Days: Tuesday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm

Teaching Personnel are delighted to be supporting a specialist therapeutic residential school in Oxfordshire, renowned for its trauma-informed approach to education and care.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for children who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, helping them to re-engage with learning through integrated therapeutic care, treatment, and education. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a school that makes a lasting difference in the lives of young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
We are seeking a temporary SENCO to lead the school’s SEN provision during an interim period. The successful candidate will:
- Lead all aspects of special educational needs provision across the school.
- Chair and manage EHCP annual reviews, PEP reviews, and other SEN meetings.
- Oversee in-class SEN support and targeted interventions.
- Line manage the SEN Assistant and liaise with external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Social Workers.
- Act as Designated Teacher for Looked After Children.
- Teach and lead interventions where required.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and at least three years’ successful teaching experience.
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Reflective, resilient, and committed to trauma-informed practice.
- SENCO qualification (or willingness to undertake) desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
