Contract: Temporary – from November 2025 to April/August 2026
Working Days: Tuesday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm

Teaching Personnel are delighted to be supporting a specialist therapeutic residential school in Oxfordshire, renowned for its trauma-informed approach to education and care.

The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for children who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, helping them to re-engage with learning through integrated therapeutic care, treatment, and education. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a school that makes a lasting difference in the lives of young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

We are seeking a temporary SENCO to lead the school’s SEN provision during an interim period. The successful candidate will:

• Lead all aspects of special educational needs provision across the school.
• Chair and manage EHCP annual reviews, PEP reviews, and other SEN meetings.
• Oversee in-class SEN support and targeted interventions.
• Line manage the SEN Assistant and liaise with external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Social Workers.
• Act as Designated Teacher for Looked After Children.
• Teach and lead interventions where required.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and at least three years’ successful teaching experience.
• Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Reflective, resilient, and committed to trauma-informed practice.
• SENCO qualification (or willingness to undertake) desirable.
