Person Specification for Speech and Language Assistant role

For this post, you must be a dedicated graduate who has achieved a 1:1 degree in their chosen discipline and already held a paid or volunteer role where you supported SEN children. You will provide the skills to efficiently handle in-class disruptions and coherent verbal and written communication skills. We want to recruit a graduate who has the skills to consistently enthuse those around them and evidence a commitment to the role and the school. You must have a natural ease with students and staff, using your personable approach and outgoing personality.

About the Speech and Language Assistant Role

This Speech and Language Assistant role involves you joining the school in a general role, not assigned to any particular class or department. Booster sessions at this school are an effective means of raising attainment and you will get to lead them or support pupils individually. In this post you will be planning interactive lessons with the teacher and even contributing your own ideas. To ensure you are settled, you will be communicating frequently with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator so both you and your pupils are getting the most out of your placement. Pupils with Special Educational Needs are supported extremely well here, and you will play a part in their success as you help them achieve their academic and social goals.
