SEND Teaching Assistant
Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support & Behaviour Mentor Opportunities | East Sussex
The pupils you'll support won't remember every lesson. They'll remember how you made them feel.
Working in SEND isn't about having all the answers.
It's about being the person who turns up every day with patience, consistency and the belief that every young person deserves someone in their corner.
Across East Sussex, I'm supporting a range of specialist SEND and SEMH schools as they continue to grow their teams for September and beyond.
Whether you're an experienced SEND professional or looking to take your first step into specialist education, I'd love to hear from you.
Current Opportunities
I'm recruiting for a variety of roles, including:
- Teaching Assistants
- Learning Support Assistants
- Behaviour Mentors
- 1:1 Support Staff
- Intervention Support
- SEND Teachers
- SEMH Teachers
Positions are available across specialist primary and secondary schools throughout East Sussex, with both long-term and permanent opportunities available.
Who Thrives in SEND?
Schools consistently tell me that qualifications are important, but character is what really makes the difference.
They're looking for people who:
- Stay calm during challenging moments
- Build genuine relationships with young people
- See behaviour as communication rather than defiance
- Celebrate progress in all its forms
- Want to help pupils become more confident, independent learners
Many successful educators have come from backgrounds including mainstream education, residential care, youth work, coaching and mentoring.
Why Work With Me?
Before moving into recruitment, I spent several years working within SEND education myself.
That experience helps me have honest conversations about schools, the young people they support and the environments where educators are most likely to succeed.
Rather than simply matching CVs to vacancies, my aim is to help you find somewhere you'll genuinely enjoy working.
What's On Offer?
- Opportunities across East Sussex
- September and immediate starts
- Long-term and permanent roles
- Teaching roles paid to scale
- Teaching Assistant opportunities from £92.60 per day
- Ongoing CPD and career development
A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required. If you don't currently hold one, I'll support you through the application process.
As part of our safeguarding process, references covering a total of 24 months of employment history (where possible) will also be required.
Ready for Your Next Opportunity?
If you're passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and want to join a school where your work genuinely matters, I'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and let's discuss the opportunities available across East Sussex.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
