Competitive rate of pay from £8.42-£10 per hour Teaching Personnel are the largest sole supplier of education staff in the UK; providing schools with a range of services and candidates with the opportunity to work on a short and longer term basis.

Teaching Personnel in the Preston office are currently recruiting for a specialist teaching assistant to support a pupil in a Burnley Primary School. The school are seeking an individual who can work alongside a child who requires additional intervention to enable them to be successful within full-time mainstream education. You will be required to work within a mainstream school, providing 1:1 and some classroom support to help facilitate the reintegration of the allocated pupil into the classroom.

There is the potential for this role to continue after the half term on a part-time basis initially while the child settles back into the classroom. The child who requires additional support will undergo a number of pupil progress meetings which you will be expected to attend and input on the child's progress. The child will work in line with a specifically designed timetable in which some of the working day will be spent out of class.

The school have specified that it would be preferable for the applying candidates to have at least an academic year's experience supporting children with Autism or associated needs. They have also noted that they would like an individual who can work with PECs cards and have a basic understanding of MAKATON.

This role will require you to work on a flexible basis with the pupil to build positive, professional relationships and help him overcome barriers to his learning and engagement. Ideally you will have experience of supporting children with Autism, behavioural and emotional needs.
