Job description

Full‑Time SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs? We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our residential team from September 2025.

Start Date: September 2025

Pay Rate: Starting at £13.75 per hour

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with children in both daytime learning and evening residential routines.
  • Assist in implementation of tailored educational plans.
  • Support personal care tasks (e.g. washing, dressing, toileting) as required.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and inclusion in all settings.
  • Liaise with educators, therapists, and residential staff to maintain consistency in approaches.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience as a support worker, teaching assistant, or SEN support assistant.
  • Demonstrated ability to support children with additional needs and behavioural challenges.
  • Comfortable and willing to provide personal care to young residents.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dedicated, patient, and positive in approach.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience supporting children within an SEN context.
  • Enhanced DBS check (can be arranged if not already held).
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and some weekends (typical residential rota).
  • First Aid qualification desirable (training can be provided).
