1‑1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Hours: 30 hrs per week (term-time only)
Salary: £13.75 per hour

About the Role
We’re seeking a caring and committed individual to deliver dedicated 1‑1 support to pupils with special educational needs, working closely with class teachers and our multidisciplinary team. You’ll play a key role in fostering both academic and personal development.

What you’ll do:

  • Support 1‑1 learning sessions as directed by teachers.
  • Assist with personal and intimate care tasks, including toilet training and hygiene routines.
  • Help implement behaviour management strategies and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Encourage independence and life skills through tailored support.
  • Liaise with families, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to share pupil progress.
  • Help prepare resources, manage learning environments and assist with educational visits.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil achievement and needs.
  • Adhere to strict safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality protocols.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in support work, healthcare, or similar roles – ideally within a SEND or caring environment.
  • A professional who is patient, compassionate and committed to nurturing children’s potential.
  • Confident in delivering personal care with dignity, respect and adherence to best practice.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Willingness to undergo and maintain an enhanced DBS check and participate in pre-employment screening.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
