Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – September 2025 Start

Are you a recent graduate looking to start your career in education or special educational needs? We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and nurturing SEN school for children this September.
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: From £13.75 per hour

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates in fields such as Education, Childcare, Psychology, Social Care, or Sociology who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a supportive school environment.

The Role:
You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs. This includes assisting with learning activities, supporting emotional and social development, and helping to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials where needed.
  • Support pupils with personal care if required.
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of pupils.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Support with implementing individual education plans (IEPs).

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Social Care, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Passionate about supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential.
