Year 1 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support – Full-Time Role in Stretford (September Start)

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Stretford, currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The school is seeking a committed Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on both a one-to-one basis and in small group settings. This full-time position (8:30am – 3:30pm) is set to begin in September 2025.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping children with SEN to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will contribute to a nurturing learning environment and assist in delivering a broad, balanced curriculum tailored to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of SEN needs in Year 1
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to aid progress and engagement
  • Assist in planning and adapting classroom activities to suit individual learning styles
  • Help implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to support holistic development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive approach
  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Level 2 Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete—training available through us)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
