Teaching Assistant – SEMH Primary School (North Manchester)

We are excited to be recruiting a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our warm and supportive team within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Primary School in North Manchester.

In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting both the teacher and our incredible pupils—each with their own unique strengths, needs, and personalities. Our school is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can grow, achieve, and feel valued.


 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting teachers in delivering creative, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences
  • Anticipating and responding to the needs of students with a range of additional and complex needs
  • Helping create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Being a consistent, trusted adult for children who need stability, encouragement, and patience

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable children or adults
  • Availability during school hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm)
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive

 Desirable but Not Essential

  • Experience as a teaching assistant supporting SEN/SEMH pupils
  • Strong behaviour management strategies
  • A proactive, resilient, and nurturing approach to challenges

  • Confident in supporting or adapting learning for pupils with varied needs

Vetting Requirements

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to:

  • Two years of employment references
  • Safeguarding training
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Please note: We can only consider applicants currently based in the UK due to the nature of the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
