Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a resilient and dedicated Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who presents complex behavioural needs. This full-time role begins 16th March and will initially cover a staff absence, with the strong possibility of continuing until July.

The successful candidate will join a large, inclusive primary school located just north of Manchester city centre. The school is known for its diverse community, with pupils coming from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It promotes a supportive, nurturing environment built on strong relationships and a commitment to helping every child thrive. The school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with particularly positive recognition for its behaviour and leadership practices.

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and pastoral team to provide consistent, structured support to help the child regulate, engage with learning, and remain settled in the classroom. You will need to be calm under pressure, confident in managing challenging behaviour, and able to build a trusting rapport with the pupil. Experience supporting children with behavioural needs, SEMH, or SEN is highly desirable.

Teaching Personnel will provide ongoing support throughout your placement, competitive weekly pay, and access to CPD opportunities including behaviour management and safeguarding training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
