SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a warm and supportive primary school in Radcliffe (M26) who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Year 4 team. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child with complex needs, including autism, and requires someone who is patient, resilient and experienced within an SEN setting.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the pupil receives tailored support throughout the school day. The child has a diagnosis of autism and presents with additional complex needs, so the role will require consistency, structure, and a nurturing approach.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and communication
  • Implementing strategies set by the SENCO and external professionals
  • Encouraging independence and confidence
  • Building a trusting, positive relationship with the pupil

About You

The school are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced working with SEN, particularly autism or complex needs
  • Calm, patient and confident using behaviour support strategies
  • Able to follow structured routines and personalised learning plans
  • Committed, reliable and available full-time from 13th April
  • Able to attend a trial week beginning 23rd March

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
