SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Skelmersdale
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 16:00pm
Roles available: Ad hoc and full-time

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support students in a Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Skelmersdale. Whether you're looking for flexible ad hoc work or a full-time position, we have opportunities available to suit your schedule.

About the School & SEN Provision:

This school provides specialist support for students aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). The staff work closely with students to help them develop both academically and socially, within a nurturing and structured environment.

Responsibilities:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your role may include:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support in and out of the classroom

  • Assisting students with their learning, communication, and personal development

  • Supporting students with personal care, if required

  • Managing behaviour positively and promoting engagement

  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to adapt learning materials

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

  • The ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs
