Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEMH Provision
Location: Blackburn
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour 

Are you a qualified Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs? A specialist Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Blackburn is looking for a dedicated and resilient Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

About the Provision:

This is a specialist setting for pupils with SEMH needs who require an alternative to mainstream education. Students may face a range of challenges including trauma, anxiety, behavioural difficulties or other complex needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment with a strong focus on emotional regulation, positive relationships and tailored learning.

Your Role Will Involve:

  • Supporting students in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Assisting with learning activities, emotional regulation, and behaviour management

  • Helping to create a calm, safe and engaging learning environment

  • Working closely with teaching staff, therapists and pastoral teams

  • Promoting self-esteem, resilience and independence in learners

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges

  • A calm, patient and consistent approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A strong belief in inclusive education and second chances

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
