Youth Mentor – Full-Time
Location: Blackburn Secondary Alternative Provision
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to join a supportive team at Blackburn Alternative Provision. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with behavioural needs, helping them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role:
As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in guiding students through their educational journey. You'll work closely with young people in both one-to-one and group settings, providing tailored support that helps them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Support students with behavioural and emotional needs in a structured learning environment

Assist in the development and delivery of individual behaviour support plans

Promote positive behaviour and personal development through encouragement and consistent support

Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to track and enhance student progress

Provide practical strategies and interventions to help students regulate behaviour and emotions

Maintain accurate records and ensure clear communication with staff and parents

Help create an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning space
What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional or behavioural needs

A solid understanding of child and adolescent development

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Patience, resilience, and a calm approach in challenging situations

A proactive, solution-focused mindset
-
Qualifications in education, youth work, psychology or similar are beneficial but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
