Youth Mentor – Full-Time
Location: Blackburn Secondary Alternative Provision
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to join a supportive team at Blackburn Alternative Provision. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with behavioural needs, helping them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:

As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in guiding students through their educational journey. You'll work closely with young people in both one-to-one and group settings, providing tailored support that helps them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with behavioural and emotional needs in a structured learning environment

  • Assist in the development and delivery of individual behaviour support plans

  • Promote positive behaviour and personal development through encouragement and consistent support

  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to track and enhance student progress

  • Provide practical strategies and interventions to help students regulate behaviour and emotions

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure clear communication with staff and parents

  • Help create an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning space

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional or behavioural needs

  • A solid understanding of child and adolescent development

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Patience, resilience, and a calm approach in challenging situations

  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset

  • Qualifications in education, youth work, psychology or similar are beneficial but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
