SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Assistant – SEN
We are looking for a committed and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary special educational needs provision in Skelmersdale. This role is offered on a temporary to permanent basis, giving the right person the chance to become a valued, long-term member of the team.
The position involves working with children who have a variety of additional needs, including social, emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties. You will provide support both in and out of the classroom, working 1:1 with pupils as well as assisting in small groups. Your role will include helping to adapt learning activities, encouraging independence, building positive relationships, and ensuring each child feels safe, supported and ready to learn.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who need extra support. Every day will bring variety, challenges and the chance to see the impact of your work first-hand.
We are keen to hear from candidates who:
-
Have previous experience of working with children, ideally those with SEN.
-
Are patient, nurturing and resilient, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
-
Can communicate effectively with both children and staff, and work well as part of a team.
-
Are committed to supporting the individual needs of each child and helping them to reach their potential.
-
Hold relevant qualifications or are willing to undertake training to develop their skills further.
In return, this role offers the opportunity to develop your experience within a dedicated SEN environment, with ongoing support and professional development available. For the right person, it can lead to a permanent contract and the chance to grow a fulfilling career in special education.
To apply, please send your CV along with a short statement outlining your experience and interest in this position.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
