SEN Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant- Pickering, Malton and surrounding areas

Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with an SEN diagnosis and can find it difficult to engage in lessons and School life.

The successful candidate will be working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of children, across Primary and Secondary Key Stages. You will be liaising alongside the SENCO and Class Teachers to ensure the right support is in place, in accordance with the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). You should be skilled in knowing when to provide de-escalation and pick up on triggers that can cause behaviour to escalate within the classroom.

You should be a patient and caring Teaching Assistant, with previous experience support special needs either in a School, as a Personal Assistant or as a Health Care Assistant or Practitioner.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must have the following:

• An enthusiastic approach to supporting children with special needs
• Experience of working with vulnerable children or adults
• Excellent communication literacy and numeracy skills: English & Maths GCSE, C or above
• A flexible and creative approach to working in education
