SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working alongside our partner secondary in Oldham who are looking to recruit in their SEN team for the upcoming academic year.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work with the SENCo and other members of faculty to ensure students who have additional needs are provided with a high calibre of support to progress in their education throughout their time in secondary school.

Whilst working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will;

- Provide support to class teachers to facilitate learning during lessons

- Act as a key worker to individual students during lessons and around school

- Help disengaged students participate during lessons and progress their learning

- Provide small group support sessions for those with SEMH needs

- Support Year 7 students transitioning to secondary school

Situated in Chadderton, our client is an established secondary with a longstanding reputation for being a highly successful school in which students of all abilities will be stretched and challenged to meet their potential. In their most recent Ofsted inspection, the school was judged to be Good across all areas with the progress SEN students making being a key factor in the grading. The school is situated between two tram stops on separate lines (Mills Hill and Freehold) ensuring accessibility for all staff, including non-drivers along with secure on-site staff parking for those who do. The school is larger than the average secondary with over 1300 students on roll, as well as an on-site provision and learning base for those with SEN.

The desired candidate for a role as a SEN teaching assistant will be;

- Holding a pass at GCSE in English and Maths

- Comfortable working with students who have SEN

- Calm, patient and resilient with the ability to quickly build rapport

- Committed to providing a constant high level of support to students
