We’re seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Blyth. Our school is deeply committed to supporting every child’s individual journey, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
About the Role
Working closely with class teachers and the SEND team, you'll support pupils who have:
- Significant speech, language, and communication needs
- Learning difficulties
- Emotional and behavioural regulation challenges
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing in-class support, as well as working 1:1 or in small groups
- Helping children engage with the curriculum and develop key skills
- Encouraging emotional wellbeing and building positive relationships
- Using tailored strategies guided by specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and Educational Psychologists (EPs)
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Flexible and proactive in a dynamic school environment
- Experienced in, or enthusiastic about, supporting children with SEND
- A strong communicator with both pupils and colleagues
- A great team player who can also take initiative when needed
Experience with Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is welcomed but not required – full training and ongoing support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
