Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision
Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (8:30-15:30)
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner depending on availability)
Pay: £89.38 PAYE contract

Are you a recent graduate with a background in Mental Health, Sports, Sociology, or a related field? Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in Chorley. The role involves supporting children and young people with complex behavioural and emotional needs, both in and out of the classroom.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH and additional needs.

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum.

  • Helping to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner.

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to support their personal and academic development.

  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • A graduate in a relevant field (e.g. Mental Health, Sports Science, Psychology, Sociology).

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (either paid or voluntary).

  • Confident, resilient and adaptable.

  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable students and promoting positive outcomes.

  • A team player with a professional and compassionate approach.
