Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
Locations: Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire
September 2025 start
Full-time positions
£89 - £100 daily rate

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting dedicated teaching assistants to support students with special educational needs (SEN), which may include students who have mental health diagnoses, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges. These factors make an empathetic and understanding personality essential within this workforce.

You will support students aged between 5 and 16, playing a critical role in their academic careers.


Position Details

  • September 2025 start date, continuing throughout the academic year
  • 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (hours may vary depending on the school)
  • Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Opportunities to transition to a permanent contract with the school for the right candidate

What You Will Do

  • Support students with SEN, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, depending on the classroom’s specific needs
  • Work closely with other teaching assistants to support the academic growth of students
  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering the tailored curriculum, assisting with learning materials when and where needed
  • Build trusting relationships with the students in your classroom, allowing them to feel safe and, in turn, perform at their academic best
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ability to adapt your approach to suit different students and their individual needs
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for education, wanting to help and support students whenever possible
  • Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour, either professionally or personally, is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience within an educational setting is desirable, but not a necessity for this role
