Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: (Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch)

Working Hours: Full-Time

Start Date: November 2025

Pay Rate: £13-£15 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Dorset, seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from November. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a meaningful impact in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)

  • Facilitate small group interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, and social skills where appropriate

  • Assist with classroom activities, adapting materials to meet the pupil’s individual needs

  • Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the SENCO and class teacher

  • Promote inclusion and encourage independence in learning

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experienced in working with children with SEND, either in educational or care settings

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping children thrive

  • Skilled in communication, both with children and adults, including parents and staff

  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Qualified with relevant certifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
