EYFS Teaching Assistant – Bournemouth (BH8)

Full-time | Term Time Only
£89.38 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a nurturing, creative, and motivated individual passionate about supporting young learners in their early development?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bournemouth (BH8). You’ll be working alongside the class teacher and EYFS team to create a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of high-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework.

  • Assist in planning and leading fun, interactive, and purposeful activities.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, including for children with additional needs.

  • Observe and record children’s progress, contributing to assessment and planning.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

  • Help with personal care when required (e.g., toileting, changing).

  • Ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all learners.

  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and carers to support every child’s development.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Relevant childcare or education qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ or equivalent).

  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational or care setting.

  • Good knowledge of the EYFS framework.

  • Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND.

  • Understanding of observation and assessment in EYFS.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
