SEN Teacher - Northampton

I am working on behalf of a Pupil Referral Unit in Northampton that cater for children with Social & Emotional needs, as well as complex behavioural issues. This school aim to provide alternative education to children who's needs cannot be met in mainstream settings. Currently, this school are looking for fully qualified teachers with experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.

As a class teacher, you will be expected to bring out the best in all learners through a personalised approach, enabling them to achieve beyond their expectations. The school believe that all learners have the ability to succeed and make the most of the next stages of their lives. The school are proud to promote and teach key life skills so that children have the confidence and tools to reach their full potential as learners and citizens.

Due to the nature of the children that attend this alternative provision, I am seeking patient, caring and compassionate individuals with experience in a similar environment. The school are open to meeting with both newly qualified teachers as well as those with years of experience; however, holding UK QTS is essential.

Successful candidates would ideally have recent experience as well as a genuine passion for working with pupils with behavioural difficulties. All applicants will need to hold a current enhanced DBS and be fully compliant to work in the UK; this must be Child Workforce only and registered on the Update Service.

As the successful Teacher you will need to;

  • Be a fully Qualified Teacher, with a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE, GTP or Bachelor of education
  • Have SEND experience
  • Have the ability to prepare, plan deliver and mark
  • Have strong classroom management skills
  • Be able to deal with challenging behaviour, with creative approach
  • Be able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team
  • Possess the passion to teach
