SEN Higher-Level Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support for pupils within a PMLD class, catering to their individual abilities and needs.
• Assist in the implementation of EHCPs and sensory programmes to support the development and progress of pupils.
• Support pupils with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, as required.
• Lead small-group activities and interventions to reinforce learning objectives and promote engagement.
• Provide PPA cover for the class teacher, delivering pre-planned lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) within a SEN setting, particularly with PMLD pupils, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of PMLD and strategies for supporting pupils with complex needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to meeting the diverse needs of pupils.
• Registration required through Teaching Personnel before an immediate start.
