We are currently looking for a TA who has previously worked with students with SEN. The position is within a mainstream Primary School, working 1:1 with pupils who have a range of statements but likely to include ASC and challenging behaviour. The role is likely to be challenging but would also be a highly rewarding role. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with ASC is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal person would have a good knowledge of teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to ASC.
Candidates who are familiar with PEC’s, TEACCH system, signing (Makaton/BSL/sign-a-long) are strongly encouraged to apply as these skills will be very relevant to the role. A Team Teach qualification or relevant moving and handling experience would be beneficial but not essential. Teaching Personnel are also able to provide a range of training; including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling.
We require candidates to apply who are passionate in assisting children with SEN to access the curriculum. An understanding and flexible nature is essential, and the school is particularly keen to have candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative.
Should you require any additional information regarding SEN or indeed to apply for the position, please contact your SEN specialist Stacey Folkard.
