SEN Classroom Assistant

Location: Bromley
Contract: Full time only
- Hours: Monday - Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 3:25 PM
- Thursday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Friday: 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM
Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Bromley. The school caters to children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Social Communication difficulties, ranging from 4 to 19 years old. It's important to note that most students are non-verbal, so any experience with non-verbal learning would be highly beneficial.
Essential Qualities:
• Proactive attitude towards supporting students with SEN.
• Passionate about making a difference in the lives of SEN children.
• Ability to listen attentively and follow initiative.
• Flexibility and resilience when working with diverse SEN needs daily.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
• Previous experience working in SEN settings.
• Previous experience in care roles.
• Experience with non-verbal learning methods.
• Possession of a DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
Job Description:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support the learning and development of students with SEN within the classroom and other educational settings. Your duties may include:
• Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, both academically and socially.
• Assisting the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
• Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
• Encouraging independence and fostering positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
• Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to support students' individual needs.
• Assisting with personal care and hygiene tasks, if required.
• Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in working with SEN students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
