We are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit in the Tameside area who are looking for behaviour focused or specialised Teaching Assistants to support students in the classroom.
The School
The school supports pupils at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 level for a short term period, to assist and guide them in developing their social and emotional skills and fill in any gaps in their education with the aspiration of returning to mainstream education. Many of the students wihin the provision suffer with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and some with learning disabilities, which in turn has caused challenging behaviour and an inability to cope in a traditional school.
Your Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you may support on a one-to-one basis or with a small group. You would be assisting them with the curriculum and encouraging positive social interaction. You are expected to help and manage behaviour amongst the pupils and mentor the pupils on how to manage their behaviour themselves appropriately, whilst having a supportive and caring demeanour so they feel secure and listened to by their support staff. The hours for this role are typically Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm, but can be available on a flexible or part time basis also.
Please be aware it is essential for all applicants to have a child only Enhanced DBS which is registered to the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
