We’re currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in one of our SEMH secondary schools in Salford. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This may include young people who are struggling with Anxiety, OCD, Autism and challenging behaviour.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of the classroom team, helping to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students in lessons, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Helping students stay focused and engaged in their learning.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation using calm and consistent strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with students to foster trust and confidence.
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs, including those who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Always promoting safeguarding and wellbeing.

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH or SEN needs (school, youth work, care, or similar settings).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour support.
  • Confidence in managing challenging situations calmly and positively.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Two years of employment references.
  • Safeguarding training (provided by us).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
