We are looking for dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support in one of our SEMH secondary schools in the Stockport area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is confident in managing behaviour, nurturing students, and helping them reach their full potential. In this position you will be making a positive impact on young people who struggle with Social and mental health challenges, behavioural challenges, Anxiety based school avoidance and High anxiety.


About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll be working closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, supporting them both in and out of the classroom. Your role will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting with general TA duties across the school
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies
  • Creating a nurturing and safe environment for learning
  • Helping students to achieve personal and academic targets
  • Collaborating with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual needs
  • Adapting work in accordance with individual EHCP’s
  • Supervising social times to ensure every child’s wellbeing and inclusion.

✅ Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • An Enhanced Child & Adult DBS registered on the Update Service (Or willing to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (provided by us)
  • References covering the last 24 months
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or behavioural support setting
