We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with one of our secondary schools in the Stockport area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students in line with their EHCPs
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Support students both in and out of the classroom
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Carry out general TA duties including classroom support and small group interventions
What We’re Looking For:
- Resilience, understanding, compassion, and patience are essential
- Experience working with children or adults with behavioural, social, or mental health needs
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning and wellbeing
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role or setting (voluntary or paid)
- Valid Enhanced DBS for both adults and children (or willingness to obtain one)
- Completion of Safeguarding Training (provided by us)
- Two employment references covering the last 2 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
