Are you a compassionate, resilient, and patient individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex behavioural, social, and mental health needs?

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with one of our secondary schools in the Stockport area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students in line with their EHCPs
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students both in and out of the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Carry out general TA duties including classroom support and small group interventions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Resilience, understanding, compassion, and patience are essential
  • Experience working with children or adults with behavioural, social, or mental health needs
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning and wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role or setting (voluntary or paid)
  • Valid Enhanced DBS for both adults and children (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Completion of Safeguarding Training (provided by us)
  • Two employment references covering the last 2 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
