Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a pupil referral unit school in Liverpool. You will be working with a dedicated and encouraging team to help support pupils who have challenging behaviour. We are looking for people that are flexible and can work on a day to day basis as well as people that would like long term work
The rate of pay for this school is £8.44/hour.
This school is based in Liverpool, a short drive from the M62 and there are bus stops located within walking distance to the school. Most pupils attend the school on a short term basis and are there as a result of exclusion from mainstream education. The pupils all have SEMH difficulties and the majority of pupils are very challenging. Ability of pupils varies greatly and SEN in school consists of ADHD, ODD, and EAL.
Responsibilities
*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals.
*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise.
*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.
Requirements
For this school, it is not essential to have worked in a school previously however working with secondary aged children in some capacity is preferred. There are no specific qualifications but having behaviour management training such as Team-Teach or MAPA is highly desirable.
The type of person who usually gets on well in this type of environment usually comes from one of the following backgrounds: care services, prisons, youth workers, sports coaching and psychology.
