Location: New Forest, Hampshire
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Hours: Term-time only

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in the beautiful New Forest area. This role is available immediately and is term-time only, offering a consistent and rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged between 7 and 16 years.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers and the wider pastoral team to provide both academic and emotional support to students who may face challenges such as anxiety, behavioural difficulties, trauma, or attachment issues. The role is highly rewarding and ideal for those looking to develop experience in education, youth work, or psychology.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis within the classroom

  • Helping to manage behaviour in a positive and consistent manner

  • Assisting with lesson delivery and adapting materials to suit individual needs

  • Building trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and self-esteem

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, especially those with additional needs (preferred but not essential)

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to undertake training and be part of a committed team

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
