Teaching Assistant – SEMH School (Portsmouth Area)

£13.75 per hour | Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH school in the Portsmouth area. This school caters to a mixed-age group of primary and secondary students, offering a unique and rewarding environment for the right candidate.

Contract: Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)

Start Date: ASAP or September

Hours: Full-time/Part time (approx. 8:30am – 3:30pm)
About the Role:
You will be working closely with pupils who have a range of SEMH needs, supporting their academic, emotional, and behavioural development. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities to make a real impact.
Responsibilities:

Supporting students in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 or small group basis

Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging activities

Helping to manage classroom behaviour positively and effectively

Building strong relationships with students, staff, and families
What We’re Looking For:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)

A calm, patient, and resilient nature

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine passion for helping students thrive

A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the update service)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
