Teaching Assistant – SEMH Secondary School, Basingstoke
Hourly Rate: £13.75
Contract: Term Time Only
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school based in Basingstoke.

This is a specialist SEMH secondary school dedicated to supporting young people who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils can develop their academic skills alongside strategies to manage their emotions and behaviours. The focus is on personalised support, building resilience, and preparing students for positive futures both inside and outside of school.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping to create a positive and nurturing learning environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development, and contributing to the overall wellbeing and progress of the students.
What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEMH or similar specialist setting

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable young people

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A proactive and flexible attitude to meet the varied needs of the school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
