We are seeking a committed and professional Teaching Assistant to join our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southampton. This role offers a valuable opportunity to support pupils facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them to engage with their education and personal development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to pupils with SEMH needs, facilitating their engagement with learning and positive behaviour management

• Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored interventions and strategies to support pupils’ social, emotional, and mental wellbeing

• Promote a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and personal growth

• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each pupil

• Assist in monitoring pupil progress and contribute to behaviour management plans

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience of working with children and young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills

• Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable pupils

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
