Science Tuition - Secondary School

Teaching Personnel are currently in the process of recruiting Science Teachers and Graduates of Science on behalf of one of our key partner secondary schools based in the centre of Wigan.

Following a request from the Deputy Headteacher we are now seeking applications from Science Specialists who are able to provide tuition to students in preparation for key upcoming GCSE examinations.

If you are a Science Graduate looking to gain experience in a secondary school environment then we wish to hear from you immediately.

  • Science Tuition and intervention
  • Immediate work opportunities within a number of secondary schools in Wigan
  • Full and part-time positions - Competitive pay rates
  • Must hold or be willing to apply for a DBS registered to the update service

The role as a Science tutor is perfect for recent graduates of Science that now wish to gain secondary school based work experience. Applicants will be delivering intervention programs to individuals ensuring that identified students are well supported and have the opportunity to achieve their target grades.

Roles and responsibilities;

  • Deliver targeted intervention and tuition with pre-planned resources.
  • Keep a log on students who undertake intervention and assist on the recording and reporting procedures.
  • Work closely with other professionals such as Learning Managers and Teaching Assistants to support students.
  • Liaise regularly with the Head of Department and teachers to inform them of progress and provide relevant feedback.

The school, located in central Wigan can be found just a few miles from the town centre, making it commutable via public transport and is easily accessible via A577/A49. They have recently converted to an academy and are making excellent progress in raising standards across the board. This is an average sized Secondary School with around 1050 children aged 11-16 on roll, the number who speak English as an additional language is slightly lower than the national average. Results are improving in the core subjects and pupils make good progress.
