Librarian with Administration Duties
Location: Northampton
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday – Thursday 8am–4pm, Friday 8am–3:30pm)
Pay: £25,727 - £27,410 FTE
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian with strong administrative skills to join our team. This unique role combines the management of a vibrant, resource-rich library with key administrative duties supporting the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
You will be pivotal in creating a welcoming space that inspires a love of reading and literacy among students, while also providing efficient, confidential, and professional support to our SLT.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, ensuring it is organised, accessible, and engaging for all students.

Develop and maintain a diverse collection of books and resources that support the curriculum and encourage reading for pleasure.

Deliver small group literacy interventions to boost reading and comprehension skills.

Collaborate with teaching staff to embed literacy across the curriculum.

Organise and promote reading events and initiatives such as book clubs and author visits.
-
Maintain digital cataloguing and library systems for efficient resource management.

Provide high-quality, confidential administrative support to the SLT, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, managing confidential files, and producing reports.

Support effective communication by drafting and proofreading letters, emails, and other correspondence.

Undertake project work and training as required.
About You

Proven experience in library management and administration.

Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.

Excellent customer service skills and a proactive approach.

Confident with digital systems and data management, including GDPR compliance.

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across all levels.
-
Passionate about promoting literacy and learning in a school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
